IASS 2025 in Munich
Peripeteias, catastrophies, happy endings: Turning points in Nordic literature and culture
30 July–2 August 2025
It is our great pleasure to host the 35th Conference of the International Association for Scandinavian Studies (IASS) in Munich in summer 2025. The Institut für Nordische Philologie (LMU Munich) warmly invites you to join us at this conference.
New information will be posted on this website on an ongoing basis.
The theme for the IASS 2025 is Peripeteias, catastrophies, happy endings: Turning points in Nordic literature and culture. The term peripeteia opens up a field of research that can be applied across genres and epochs, and which has implications for the way we see ourselves as scholars of literature. A detailed description of the topic and suggestions for possible panels and papers can be found in the attached document »Call for Papers«.
The schedule leading up to the conference is as follows:
- 1 December 2024: Deadline for papers and panels. Abstracts may be submitted in Danish, English, Norwegian or Swedish. They should be around half a page/max. 300 words. You will need to send your proposals (title and abstract) to iass2025@lrz.uni-muenchen.de by this date.
- February 2025: We will inform you by email regarding the acceptance of your paper and panel proposals.
- March 2025: A preliminary programme will be published on the homepage.
- March–May 2025: Registration period. You will need to register within this time frame, and registration is binding. All information will be available on the homepage.
