Half-Day Trip to Tegernsee

Enjoy a visit of the Olaf Gulbransson Museum, and sample Bavarian cuisine and beer at Bräustüberl Restaurant.

This excursion will depart from Munich central station, from where we will take the train to Tegernsee (both the name of a beautiful lake and lakeshore town 50 km south of Munich). There, we will visit the Olaf Gulbransson Museum (https://www.olaf-gulbransson-museum.de/), a small but beautiful museum dedicated to the Norwegian painter and caricaturist Olaf Gulbransson (1873-1958) who lived in this area from the 1920s onwards. We will take a short walk thorugh the town center and then conclude the excursion with a hearty Bavarian meal at Bräustüberl Restaurant (https://braustuberl.de/), located in a wing of the former Tegernsee Abbey, now home to the family of Prince Max, Duke in Bavaria. Participants can then take the train back to Munich with the rest of the group, or continue to explore the area on their own, for instance with a cruises on Lake Tegernsee (departure times 17:15 or 19:00 for an hour long cruise: https://www.seenschifffahrt.de/de/tegernsee/).
